The Kiss, The Card, and The Cuddle

February 13th, 2009 · No Comments

Here we are on the eve of Valentine’s Day 2009. Valentine’s Day is all about expressing those “special feelings” for that “someone special” in our lives! And that is not always an easy thing to do. It seems no matter how hard I try I can never quite get across to my Valentine, that would be my wife you know, how much I love her. The Valentine card, the gift, and even the kiss and cuddle always seems to fall short of expressing my true feelings for her. But look how beautifully God expressed his love for us.

We must all surely be God’s “someone special.” For God so LOVED the world that he gave us his only son. Now that would have to be the greatest gift and the sweetest kiss of all time! God reached down and kissed us with the gift of his son, Jesus. He has kissed us with righteousness and peace. He has fulfilled us with his love and satisfied us with his kindness. Now that’s a KISS!

I feel like the Bible is a Valentine card everytime I open it. It is an expression of God’s never ending  love for us. Here is the written word of God from 1st John 3:1,  “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God.” And I’m reminded that Jesus loved so much that he redeemed us not with perishable things such as silver and gold, but with his own precious blood. His words of love are written in crimson red! Now that’s more than a Valentine’s Card… That’s a Love Letter!

And the word cuddle means: “To hold close.” God desires intimacy. He has invited us into the King’s Camber. He made a way for us to be close to him through the death of Jesus. When Jesus died, the veil was torn from top to bottom making a way for us to enter the holy of holies, the most holy place. God desires to hold us close, to cover us and protect us from all of life’s harm. Don’t you find yourself singing the song; “Draw me close to you, never let me go…..” Then on the chorus you sing with everything that’s in you, maybe even confidently off key; ” You’re all I want, you’re all I ever needed.” He has taken you in his loving arms and assured you of his love forever. And I ask you, “Can you be held any closer and loved any more than that?” Now that’s Cuddling!

The Kiss, The Card, and The Cuddle! You are God’s Valentine!
